Early Alert/Intervention

Because some students may have difficulty adjusting to the atmosphere in higher education, the Success Center has an early alert/referral program.  If students encounter difficulties meeting academic standards, faculty can refer students to their academic advisor for assistance.

Students can be referred for excessive absences, low exam grades, lack of participation, low mid-term average, etc.  Students can also receive positive feedback regarding their academic performance via our early alert system.

The Starfish Retention Solutions provides a quick and easy way to students assistance early enough in the semester to make a difference. While nothing substitutes direct discussions between students and instructors concerning their academic performance (e. g. after class or during office hours), Starfish is a valuable resource in the event that additional academic assistance is needed.
