International Students

An international student is any one student holding a nonimmigrant visa. A permanent resident alien who has completed two or more years in and graduated from a U.S. high school is required to meet the admission standards for U.S. citizens.

Academic Requirements

Texas A&M University-Texarkana requires that International applicants show proof of successful completion of a course of study equivalent to that required of a U. S. citizen.

Your international transcript(s) must be evaluated by an independent credential evaluation agency before we consider you for admission to A&M University-Texarkana. For Transfer Admission, college transcripts should be evaluated course by course and semester by semester. For Freshman Admission, high school transcripts need only be evaluated to determine U.S. high school equivalency.

Undergraduate Language Proficiency Requirement

International applicants must be adequately proficient in English to pursue a course of study at the university. A score of at least 550 paper based or 213 computer based or 79 Internet based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and an official report of these scores must be submitted to the Admissions Office prior to admission. Students with degrees from postsecondary institutions in English speaking countries, or who have successfully completed two years (48 sch) of study in which English was the language of instruction, will be exempt from the TOEFL test. Please note that the test must have been taken within the two-year period prior to enrollment.
