You will earn a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from a University system with a renowned reputation. Your degree will encompass studies in all of the areas listed above which will allow you to work in any of the fields of mass communication, or move on to the next level of knowledge as a graduate student.

In general, you will learn about the world of mass media. You will work on polishing your verbal and writing skills. You will write public relations campaigns, news stories, research papers on topics ranging from comic books, action films, and video games, and create advertisements, magazine layouts, and short films!

The first course you will take as a Mass Communication major is Introduction to Mass Communication. This course will help you learn about all of the areas of communication so that you can choose to focus on a specific area that most interests you.

Our students can also take classes in media studies and media production. If you choose to major in Mass Communication, you will have an opportunity to help take the A&M-Texarkana program to the next level by becoming involved in many of the upcoming projects on the horizon: 

You can take classes on the history of American film or television and provide coverage of a film festival.

You can produce short films and graphic design work that would establish your portfolio as a multimedia creator.

You can start a multimedia blog or contribute to our new campus newspaper The Navigator by writing stories and devise the best marketing  campaign to make it the “go-to” source for A&M-Texarkana students.

Finally, if you are interested in public relations, you can work for a Texarkana non-profit organization to help them create a new image.

We even have a forums for you to involved on campus. Students have been involved in projects ranging from producing marketing materials for the University, programming a weekly film series with guest speakers, contributing to a A&M-Texarkana graphic design showcase, and planning future trips to the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival in Los Angeles. Moreover, the Mass Communication Club has competed at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention and won the award for Student Organization of the Year.
