A&M-Texarkana believes strong partnerships between the university, school districts, community colleges, region service centers and other entities best prepare candidates for successful careers in the teaching profession. Candidates seeking teaching certification while earning their Bachelor’s degree, and a Undergraduate Certification, may complete the program at the Main Campus in Texarkana or in Mt. Pleasant at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) with face-to-face, online or web-enhanced courses.
Teacher certificates are issued by the Texas Education Agency after recommendation by the university. This recommendation includes verification of the completion of a state-approved program that includes successful completion of course work, field experience and certification testing. Students seeking certification while earning a Bachelor's degree need to be aware they will be expected to meet the number of field experience hours in their Junior and Senior Years. Please see Field Experiences for current requirements.
