TExES Test Preparation Workshops
Any student seeking teaching certification is required to pass a minimum of two TExES certification tests.

Content Test: This test is completed as part of admission to the program and Eligibility for Probationary Certificate Process. Graduate students must complete this test in the area seeking certification prior to being admitted into teacher preparation program and before beginning Internship or applying for Clinical Practicum (Student Teaching). Students are encouraged to participate in a test preparation and take a practice content test.
Students seeking Special Education Certification should take the SPED EC-12 (#161) as their initial content test for Admission. However, SPED candidates doing internship will likely have to take another content test upon hire by school district.
Students seeking Bilingual Certification should take either EC-6 Generalist (#191) or 4-8 Generalist (#111), Bilingual Supplemental (#164) AND BTLPT - Bilingual Target Language Proficience Test Spanish (#190) to be eligible for hire by school district.
Limited Testing Opportunities: Students wishing to take English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) 7-12 or BTLPT for Bilingual or LOTE Certifications need to be aware these tests are offered only one-two times per semester due to writing and language components. Be aware of these dates posted on TExES Website: www.texes.ets.org.
Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility (PPR) Test: Teacher candidates may register to take the PPR Test when eligible. To be eligible, candidate must meet all three criteria below:
Upon completion of ED 506 and ED 508, candidate is encouraged to participate in 6-hours of state mandated test preparation. Before completing Internship or Clinical Practicum, candidate is required to provide documentation of participation in 6-hours of state mandated test preparation.
