Enterprise Risk Management

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is an on-going process designed to identify and manage potential risks that could impact the successful attainment of the University’s strategic objectives.  The University’s ERM process includes: identifying, evaluating and mitigating risk.

ERM addresses risk with the goal of achieving sustained benefit to the organization, while minimizing negative consequences to the organization.  The main objective is to raise awareness of the risks that can affect Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s mission and to address those risks in day-to-day operations.

Once identified, risks are ranked by considering both the impact of the risk and the likelihood that the risk could occur using a three-tiered high, medium, and low ranking method.

The final step is to identify mitigating activities, monitoring activities, and the process to report.  Each department retains ownership for managing their specific risks.

For more information regarding the ERM process, contact the Director of University Compliance at (903) 334-6755 or compliance@tamut.edu.
