Meet Our Staff

Dr. Nancy Jordan, Associate ProvostDR. NANCY SHANKLE JORDAN

Nancy has published in linguistics and grammar anxiety and edited The Transforming Word. She has also presented at national and regional conferences on accreditation and assessment, multicultural literature, and technical writing. In March 2011, Nancy was awarded the Frances Hernandez Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service by the Conference of College Teachers of English.

Prior to joining Texas A&M University-Texarkana as Associate Provost, Nancy worked at Abilene Christian University where she served as faculty member, department chair, associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, and assistant provost for general education. As associate dean, Nancy supervised 17 departments and assisted in helping these departments complete their program reviews, outcomes assessment reports, departmental visiting committees, and specialized accreditation. As assistant provost, she led general education curriculum development and program review.
Born on an Air Force base, Nancy has enjoyed traveling all her life. She has lived in Panama Canal Zone, and her most recent trip abroad was to Zambia. When she isn’t traveling, Nancy calls East Texas home and has family roots in Titus County. She and her husband have six children together and five grandchildren.

The Office of the Associate Provost promotes excellence in academics through its support of assessment, accreditation, and academic programs. The Office includes Honors and Institutional Data Management as well as new faculty orientation and mentoring, institutional effectiveness and assessment, and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools—Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation.

Emily Newsome, Assistant to the Associate ProvostEMILY NEWSOME

Emily Newsome is a lifetime resident of Texas graduating from New Boston High School in 1998.  Emily has worked for the University for two years.  She began as student worker in the College of Education and Liberal Arts, and she then worked as Secretary in the college. 

Emily is the daughter of Ronnie and Brenda Pipes.  She and her husband, Chris, reside in New Boston with their two sons, Grayson and Joshua. “It is exciting to be part of the Eagle family.  The university has undergone much change in the last few years.  I look forward to what the future holds for our campus and community."

The role of the Administrative Assistant is to support the Office of the Associate Provost including maintaining official records and executing administrative policies.

Ricky Ray, Senior Data AnalystRICKY RAY

Ricky Ray joined the Office of Institutional Data Management as the Data Analyst II in 2013 and was promoted to Senior Data Analyst in 2014. Ricky graduated Cum Laude in 2009 from Southern Arkansas University’s prestigious College of Business. During his time at Southern Arkansas University, he was a member of the national award-winning Students In Free Enterprise team, was a member of the Business Student Advisory Council, completed an accounting internship with South Arkansas Youth Services and was a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society. Ricky was recruited out of college by the State of Arkansas to serve as an auditor for the Division of Legislative Audit, the agency responsible for auditing institutions of higher education, as well as state and local government. In 2012, Ricky joined the Texas A&M University - Texarkana accounting department where he served as a Grant/Budget accountant until 2013.

Supports critical university processes by creating a variety of ad-hoc reporting using the university’s data access and reporting system, WebFOCUS. Serves as the administrator of the report server and schedules essential reporting through Reportcaster, our report scheduling and distribution tool. Prepares moderately complex SQL queries to data mine the universities’ Oracle database. Responsible for preparing pertinent enrollment, applicant, graduation and retention data to administration. Prepares and submits required data reporting for the Legislative Budget Board, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas A&M System.

Dr. Jade Jekins, Acadmic Assessment CoordinatorDR. JADE JENKINS

Dr. Jenkins joined the Office of Institutional Data Management as the Coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness in January 2015. She has a Ph. D in Psychology from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL), with a concentration in Social and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Her research has focused on the interplay of technology and health, stress and recovery, biometric indicators of self-regulation, the work-life interface, workplace deviance/citizenship behaviors, self-stereotyping, and the intersections of gender, age, and family culture in the workplace. Her consulting interests and experiences pertain to qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methodologies, user experience (UX) research, occupational health psychology, training, organizational development, and individual psychological assessment. Prior to coming to Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Dr. Jenkins coordinated activities at Northern Illinois University  focused on the design and evaluation of general psychology courses and the development of teaching effectiveness. She also taught general psychology courses at North Central College (Naperville, IL) and Aurora University (Aurora, IL), in addition to teaching both general psychology courses and social psychology courses at Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Jenkins coordinates numerous assessment cotninuous improvement activities across the entire organization. She schedules the Major Field Exams and the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+), and she manages the annual program assessment process and the annual Core Curriculum faculty review panels. She designs, administers, and/or analyzes results from numerous surveys, including the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE), the Graduating Student Survey (GSS), the Global Perspectives Inventory (GPI), the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), and the Student Satisfaction Survey and the Faculty & Staff Satisfaction Survey. She also provides psychometric consultations to departments interested in creating their own indirect assessments. She serves as an ex-officio member of the Curriculum Committee, leads the Administrative Assessment and Development (AA&D) Committee and the Academic and Student Support Assessment & Development (ASSAD) Committee, and is a member of the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) Committee, the Foundations of Excellence (FOE) Committee, the Testing Center Committee, and the Wellness Committee.

Jennifer Willis, Data Analyst IIJENNIFER WILLIS

Jennifer is the proud daughter of a fellow A&M University-Texarkana alumna, Elaine Willis and member of the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Alumni Board. Jennifer began her career in higher education as a part-time clerk in the Admissions and Registrar’s Office in 2002.  She has previously worked as an Admissions Clerk, Assistant to the Director of Admissions, Admissions Coordinator, Interim Director of Admissions, Assistant Director of Admissions, and Assistant Registrar.  She never dreamed that she would have the pleasure of working at both the university and community college levels.   "I love that I work in a field that directly impacts the lives of our community members. I have seen our community grow and continue to support the efforts of higher education."   When she is away from work, she enjoys spending time with her son, dreaming up meals in the kitchen, and corralling the 5 four-legged children.

Perform data mining from existing university relational databases in Banner, etc, into specailized software such as WebFocus, to merge data and provide reports. Extracts data and genreates reports, ensuring accuracy, to facilitate on going data dissemination via the Fact Book, System Metrics, Program Review, and website documents. Collects, develops, and submits reports for IPEDS, College Board, Accountability Draft System, NSSE, BCSSE, CATEF, NCES, and NPSAS on a semester/academic basis. Serves in a support role for university assessment and survey activities, as well as, administrator for the university course and instructor evaluation process. Developes and maintains a cnetralized university-wide webpages for internal and external audiences. Member of the Foundations of Excellence Steering Committee and Banner User Group (BUG).
