Undergraduate Certification

Students seeking teaching certification as part of an undergraduate degree apply for admission through the Teacher Preparation Program. Teacher candidates will be able to do field experiences (including Student Teaching their final semester) in Texas or Arkansas school districts.

Students seeking certification in grades EC-6 receive coursework and field experiences that focus on Reading, Special Education and English as a Second Language (ESL). Coursework and field experiences prepare all EC-6 candidates to take certification tests in Special Education EC-12 or ESL beyond their initial certification.

Coursework and field experiences prepare Secondary (4-8 and 7-12) candidates for their initial certification. At the undergraduate level, students may earn certification in the following areas:
