Superintendent Certification Program

TWO PROGRAMS AS PART OF TEXAS A&M SYSTEM'S 100-YEAR HISTORY OF PREPARING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS - PASS RATES ABOVE 95% OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS! Superintendent courses can be applied towards A&M-Texarkana's Doctoral Program.  

Texarkana Online Superintendent Program

Full-online program with comprehensive support for passing Superintendent certification exam. Flexible start dates.

The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Texas Superintendent Certification Preparation Program is aligned to the Texas Superintendent Standards and the Test Framework of the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) through four courses (12 SCH) including three content courses and an internship course.  All courses are delivered fully online, and the 160 hour internship must be completed in a Texas school district.  [Note:  Faculty will assist students not living or working in Texas to find a suitable Texas district in which to conduct his/her internship.] For more information, please contact Dr. Kathy Lease at klease@tamut.edu or 903/334-6686.

The program can be completed in two semesters, with new cohorts beginning each fall  and spring semesters. The schedule of courses is provided below:

  • First Semester:
    • EDLD 690 Executive Leadership
    • EDLD 694 Instructional Leadership
  • Second Semester:
    • EDLD 698 Administrative Leadership
    • EDLD 691 Superintendent Internship 

Admission Process

Candidates must apply to 1) Texas A&M University - Texarkana and 2) superintendent program. Please contact susan.gleason@tamut.edu or call 903/223-3129 if you have questions about the admissions process.  

1. University Application

To apply to A&M-Texarkana, go to Office of Graduate Studies website. Click on link, "Apply".  Complete application as a "Graduate, Non-degree Seeking Student". There is a $30 processing fee. 

2. Superintendent Program Application

At the same time that you apply to graduate studies, please apply to the certification program through our Tk20 System: https://tamut.tk20.com.  This application is free, and does not require you to pay any additional fees.

       Application Documents:  Submit requested application documents as instructed for the program of your choice. NOTE: Upon receipt of admission, candidates must formally accept admission on Tk20.

       For Texas A&M-Texarkana Program, complete the following and submit to susan.gleason@tamut.edu in the Office of Graduate Studies.

  • Completed form indicating district support (download letter here)
  • Official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended by the applicant
  • Official TOEFL scores taken within the last two years (international students only)

Ratliff Academy Superintendent Program 

In partnership with Region 8 Educational Service Center. Seminars held at Region 8 in Pittsburg, TX.  Applications accepted each fall and start date begins late January.
