Education Leadership

The Education Leadership department at Texas A&M University-Texarkana primarily serves PreK-12 education in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and beyond. The department houses both a Master of Education program, with principal certification, and Doctor of Education Scholars of Practice program. In addition, the principal certification and superintendent certification programs are also offered to those already holding master’s degrees and prior certifications.

Education Leadership faculty members are dedicated to addressing the needs of our diverse student population by offering courses in ways that are mindful of students’ time, economic, and geographic constraints.  Our master’s and certification programs are offered in a variety of formats to meet the needs of today’s learners. Our Doctor of Education degree is Web-Enhanced, combining the best of traditional models with best practices in online learning. This program was designed to meet the needs of today’s professionals while still providing the support and interaction needed for effective learning at this level.

Our programs admit students every Fall semester, with the Master of Education degree taking approximately one and a half years to complete and the doctoral degree taking approximately 3 years. The superintendent program is completed in two consecutive semesters.
