RN to BSN Program

Bachelor of Science in Nursing - RN to BSN Track

The Department of Nursing offers an opportunity for a registered nurse with an associate degree in nursing to articulate seamlessly to the baccalaureate degree in nursing.

The baccalaureate curriculum builds on the basic nursing program to increase ability in leadership, evidence-based practice, health care policy and community health. Up to 30 semester credit hours are awarded for courses from the initial nursing program.

Up to 3 SHC can be awarded for completion of an approved national certification examination. Examples of approved certifications include CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse), Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse or Certified Obstetric Nurse. Examples of unapproved certifications include PALS, ACLS, TNCC.The student will register for NURS 432, Certification in Specialty Nursing Practice to receive this credit.

Requirements for Admission to the RN to BSN track

  • Cumulative GPA 2.8 or above
  • Student must be within 9 SCH of completion of prerequisite core courses
  • The application packet includes the admission application and a checklist of supporting documents to be submitted.
  • Completed application packet must be submitted to the Department of Nursing by July 15 each year. 
  • Attend the mandatory orientation to the nursing program in August

  • This is a link to a list of all core and prerequisite courses. The Academic Advising Center will provide advisement and assistance with prerequisite courses.

Course Sequence Plan for Nursing: One Year & Two Year Plan

  • Students may attend full time (4 courses/semester) or part time (2 courses/semester).
  • Courses in the RN to BSN program are 8 weeks in length
