Institutional Review Board

The federally mandated Institutional Review Board (IRB) coordinates with the Human Research Protection Program to assure the protection of human research participants and to ensure Texas A&M University-Texarkana's compliance with the laws and regulations governing human subject research. Any such research conducted by Texas A&M University-Texarkana faculty, staff, or students must be reviewed and approved prior to being initiated. Also, any other party wishing to conduct research using Texas A&M University-Texarkana employees or students as subjects must secure authorization prior to recruiting participants.

If you are faculty, staff or a student conducting a project in which you are collecting data from human subjects with the intent of disseminating the results beyond the confines of the university, you must complete the Standard IRB Application.

If you are an instructor who embeds a required research project in a course, please use the table below to determine whether the Classroom IRB Application or the Standard IRB Application is appropriate for your project.
