Common Reading Experience

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to share reading and learning experiences with your classmates and faculty. This experience allows you to bond with each other as a community of learners. Not only will you share a reading experience, you will come together as a community to participate in conversations and activities on campus and beyond associated with our annual academic theme. This year’s theme is science and technology.

The common reading experience book selection is Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. You’ll receive the books in your freshman course (IS 1100). During the semester, you’ll participate in discussions with your classmates and faculty,  and you'll have the opportunity to attend special events related to the books.
