The Big Event started at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, in 1982. Since its inception, The Big Event has expanded to other universities nationwide. Texas A&M University - Texarkana hosted its first annual version of The Big Event in April 2017 and added the tagline - Eagle Pride City Wide (EPCW). The inaugural event boasted over 200 volunteers that clocked nearly 1,000 service hours.
This year's Big Event will be held on April 12, 2025.
The Big Event is one big day, one big event, and one big thanks to our community, Texarkana, USA. This is simply our way of giving back to the community that supports our University. Our campus community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families unite in extending a helping hand for one day. We rake yards, clean streets, rebuild parks, visit nursing homes, walk dogs, read to children, and much more.
The mission of The Big Event: “Through service-oriented activities, The Big Event promotes campus and community unity as students come together for one day to express their gratitude for the support from the surrounding community.”
Registration Information
We invite students, faculty, staff, and alumni to participate in this annual event. All participants will receive a complimentary event t-shirt to wear on the BIG day!
Important Registration Information
- If you want to participate in a group (even if it's just one other human), please create a new group or join an existing group. This is how we will assign projects.
- When creating a group, please share the group name with the others to join easily.
- If you are joining an existing group, please join the correct group by searching for the name.
- Upon completing registration, you will receive an automated email from DocuSign to complete our event participation waiver. You must complete this step to participate in the event.
