Curriculum Committee

Minutes of

March 28, 2000

Members present:  Johnson, Hastings, Roach, Harbin, Martin, Moore, Simonson, Black.  Guests:  David Brown, Bennat Mullen, David Allard, Shirley Finn

1.         Biology Program Proposal:  Dr. Simonson led a discussion entailing several faculty concerns regarding the draft of the program.

2.         Nursing Program Proposal:  Dr. Martin led a discussion describing faculty concerns regarding the draft of the program.  He stated faculty concerns that there had been  no faculty input on the proposal.  His statement also indicated that an appropriate time frame for review by the departmental faculty and by this committee was not followed.

3.         Educational Administration Proposal:  Dr. Hastings led the discussion regarding this proposal.  She reiterated the lack of faculty involvement in the development of this program.  Many concerns were discussed.

4.         The committee was unwilling to approve the proposals as written; a special meeting will be held after departmental review to reconsider these program proposals.  Next meeting:  3/30/2000.
