A&M-Texarkana to Host Honor Student Showcase Next Week

Published: April 24, 2015

On Thursday, April 30, Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host an Honor Student Showcase on campus in University Center, 3rd floor atrium from noon to 1:00pm.

This student showcase is an opportunity for TAMUT Honors Students to display the projects that they completed within classes for the Honors Program. These projects cover a wide range of topics, including European history, the recent Ebola outbreak, water contamination, engineering, and accounting.

Honors students are expected to complete a series of projects within their major courses that go above and beyond the normal course requirements. This gives them the opportunity to delve more deeply into their chosen fields, and to develop a stronger understanding of the materials. Different students have done different projects, including giving lectures in a course, conducting research alongside a faculty member, conducting independent research, writing research papers, giving presentations, developing course materials, etc.

Dr. Craig Nakashian, the Honors Program Director stated “As the Honors Program Director, I’m thrilled that we are able to highlight some of the wonderful projects that our students have been working on. The ability for students to apply their knowledge and education directly and work hand-in-hand with our faculty is a hallmark of our style of education here at A&M-Texarkana.”

The showcase will give students the chance to show what they have done in their Honors courses, and to discuss these projects with their peers and the community.

For more information on the honors program, contact Dr. Craig Nakashian at (903) 223-3136 or craig.nakashian@tamut.edu.
