The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Campus Activities Board (CAB) will once again vie for national awards this spring at the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) National Programming Conference in Houston.

The A&M-Texarkana CAB recently received the Campus Organization of the Year Award for APCA’s South Central Region, which includes universities and colleges in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi and New Mexico.

Celeste McNiel, assistant director of Student Life at A&M-Texarkana, received the South Central Region Advisor of the Year Award.

A&M-Texarkana’s Campus Activities Board and advisor McNiel will go on to compete against award winners in four other regions of the United States for the National Campus Organization of the Year Award and National Advisor of the Year Award.

In 2014-15, A&M-Texarkana won the APCA National Event of the Year Award and South Central Region Event of the Year Award for “De-Stress for Finals 2014.” A&M-Texarkana also won first place in the 2015 APCA National Programming Conference graphics competition for its 2015 Spring Fling poster.

“Winning consecutive awards – much less two of them – at Regionals is pretty rare,” McNiel said. “I’m so proud of our students and Student Life staff.”

The university also won the National Event of the Year Award in 2013, which illustrates that the students on the programming board are consistently performing as leaders in  campus programming on a national level, McNiel said.
