Institutional Effectiveness and Research
PURPOSE
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research's mission is to provide accurate, consistent, and timely data, analysis, and reports to facilitate, support, and enhance data-informed institutional planning, policy formulation, and decision-making for continuously improving institutional performance and effectiveness. The OIER provides institutional data to the state, federal, and other external reporting agencies involved with the University and assists the University with accreditation, assessment, reporting, research, and compliance.
MISSION
Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER) facilitates growth and change through a variety of activities, support, and utilization of resources. IER assists with the assessment of student learning outcomes for core curriculum, all-level program and department review, accreditation (university and program), and evaluation administration. This includes tracking trends in enrollment growth, retention rates, graduation success, financial health, and other key indicators. We provide faculty and staff the insight and information necessary to make data-informed decisions regarding programs, policies, procedures, and services provided by the university. We serve as an independent voice on behalf of faculty members, administration, and staff regarding institutional data related to campus operations and serve as a liaison to system, state, and federal reporting agencies. We participate in university initiatives that seek to inform policies, processes, procedures, and planning.

Power BI
Go beyond spreadsheets with Microsoft's powerful visualization tool Power BI. IER has compiled several visualizations on topics such as Enrollment, Persistence and Grade Distributions. Integrated slicers allow you to surface the information that is pertinent to you and your audience using interactive charts. Once you have found what works for you, export it in Excel format for further analysis or as a PDF for distribution.
WebFocus
WebFocus is your connection to student and course information at TAMUT. Access student-level data through our Self Service Portals where you can view live and historical applicant, enrollment, and graduation data. IER also provides custom reports to help support strategic decisions and processes.
