Our potential students might be interested to know that TAMUT offers an MA in English with emphases in Composition and Literature. Both emphases encourage high specialization with your choice of allied hours that create a bespoke program for your needs. Whatever path you wend through our intellectual fields, you will internalize a variety of granular skills. The first is analysis at all levels. You can learn linguistic, discourse, genre, literary, historical, psychological, post-modern, and many others. Our program will teach you how to look through any lens. However, it does not stop there. You will also get interaction with various theories of reception, reproduction and circulation.
Not only will you learn to interpret great literature and other, multi-media texts, but you will also learn the skills of composing and articulating the relationship between the reader and the writer; including the writerly skills of narrowing potential reader interpretation such as identification, corpus analysis, rhetorical velocity, etc. You will leave our program with a profound sense of the powers of language; its creation and reception, and interplay with society. We teach you to be a powerhouse of language and narrative.

Other go on to esteemed PhDs facilitated by the many venues that they may publish locally in such as Four States Living Magazine, Her, and TXK Today, as well as making names for themselves in scholarly venues, such as The Sigma Tau Delta Review, and conferences.
Also available is Master Teacher of Writing Certificate, giving you the requisite 12 graduate hours necessary to teach at the community college level.
