Degree Requirements

  • General Education Core Curriculum - 42 semester credit hours (SCH) in basic college courses (Composition I and II, U.S. History I and II, college-level math, etc.) earned through any regionally accredited school, course-match portfolio assessment, or CLEP test.
  • BAAS Foundational Courses – 24 SCH in applied arts and sciences coursework. These courses must be taken in the following order after satisfactory completion of ENGL 1301:
    • AAS 305: The Adult Learner and Self-Development
    • ITED 350: Technology and Digital Literacy
    • ENG 340: Advanced Expository Writing or ENG 350: Technical Writing
    • AAS 395: Prior Learning Assessment Theory and Practice
    • LEAD 415: Organization Development and Change
    • AAS 490: Self-development in Professional Contexts
    • Six hours Upper Division Prior Learning Assessment Credit and/or Program Approved Electives
  • Professional Development Complement - 18 Upper Division SCH completed with a C or better. Choose one of the following fields in which to specialize:
    • Behavioral Sciences
    • Computer Technology
    • Criminal Justice
    • English
    • Instructional Technology (all courses online)
    • Liberal Arts
    • Mass Communications
    • Organizational Leadership (all courses online)
    • Political Science
    • Sociology
  • Electives - including transfer credit, Prior Learning Assessment Credit and/or electives course (As needed to meet minimum degree requirements including 45 SCH of upper division coursework) 

Please note 45 of the required 120 SCH must be from upper division courses. Also, 30 of the 120 SCH must be taken from Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
