ADN to BSN

Quality Matters Header

The Department of Nursing offers an opportunity for a registered nurse with an associate degree in nursing to articulate seamlessly to the baccalaureate degree in nursing.

The baccalaureate curriculum builds on the basic nursing program to increase ability in leadership, evidence-based practice, health care policy and community health. Up to 30 semester credit hours are awarded for courses from the initial nursing program.

Up to 3 SHC can be awarded for completion of an approved national certification examination. Examples of approved certifications include CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse), Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse or Certified Obstetric Nurse. Examples of unapproved certifications include PALS, ACLS, TNCC.The student will register for NURS 432, Certification in Specialty Nursing Practice to receive this credit.

Submit official transcripts from all previous colleges and universities, sent directly to:

Process:

  1. Apply to A&M-Texarkana  (apply Texas or CollegeNet)
  2. Select BS in Nursing (ADN to BSN) as major
  3. Meet with our transfer advisor, Kristina Jones; kjones@tamut.edu or 903-334-6719
  4. Submit Nursing program specific application
  5. Acceptance decisions from nursing will be sent from Kristie Avery, Admissions Coordinator; kavery@tamut.edu

Requirements:

  • Valid, current unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited (CCNE, ACEN, CNEA) nursing program or a Texas Board of Nursing approved professional nursing program
  • Meet TAMUT transfer student admission requirements
  • Current CPR for Health Providers Certifications (BCLS)
  • Required immunizations (See Applicant Checklist)
  • 10-panel urine drug screen
  • Proof of Personal health insurance
  • Reference letter
  • Background check - https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks
