Recruiting Policies and Procedures

Thank you for your interest in hiring our Eagles! Career Development at Texas A&M-Texarkana strives to offer top-notch customer service to all constituents, and we value each of our partnerships. We abide by the Principles for Ethical Professional Practice as outlined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and will provide services for talent acquisition professionals and organizations that meet the following criteria:

Recruiting Policies and Procedures for Talent Acquisition Professionals

Career Development assists talent acquisition professionals seeking to fill actual or anticipated bona fide positions, career-related paid or unpaid internships, co-op positions, summer jobs and experiential learning opportunities. A bona fide full-time or part-time position is defined as a career opportunity that is salaried (not 100% commission) and does not require the candidate to pay a fee for training/coursework/background checks, purchasing a membership and/or products, or any other job-related expenses (including draw against future earnings).

EMPLOYERS OFFERING “STRAIGHT COMMISSION” POSITIONS:

Employers with “straight commission” positions may request to use our services (postings, jobs, on-campus recruiting, and attend jobs fair). However, the terms “straight commission” must be explicitly stated in the job posting so that students are aware and can make a decision as to whether or not they are interested in those opportunities.

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS:

Career Development at Texas A&M-Texarkana believes that experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, add to the overall college education experience and should be for the primary benefit of the intern. In some instances, employers leverage unpaid internships to assist students in gaining real world job experiences. In these situations, we ask employers to reference the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division Fact Sheet #71: Internship Programs Under The Fair Labor Standards Act. Additional resources are also available on the NACE website.

THIRD PARTY/STAFFING AGENCIES (TPSA):

TPSA must have an approved account in Hire an Eagle and a completed Third Party/Staffing Agency Statement of Understanding form on file that confirms agreement to the terms outlined within. All approved TPSA may post positions in Hire an Eagle; however, may not engage in on-campus recruiting (career fairs, tabling, Eagle Employer Spotlights, etc.) unless approved by Career Development with the understanding that the TPSA is hiring for internal candidates only.

AT HOME CARE: (Eldercare, Childcare, Pet Sitting, etc.)

Career Development will not advertise any position that would require an Eagle to work out of someone’s home. All posted positions with our office must pay at least minimum wage, come from an organization that carries workers compensation, carries liability insurance, and takes out payroll taxes.
