This page is here to assist you should you have the need to transition to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This site provides information, resources, tools and points of contact to help you succeed in completing your degree.

1. Do a test run on your computer equipment.
Make sure your computer can do what is required

Can it handling streaming video? A mid-range multi-core CPU should be adequate.

Does it have speakers and can you hear sound?

Does it have a web cam and microphone?

Does it have virus and adware protection software? Contact us to help you check.

Does it have Microsoft Word, minimum version 2016 or above? Check with us on how to get the student version.

Does it have a good search engine? Mozilla Firefox is available for free.

Does it have the most recent versions of Java, Flash, QuickTime, Adobe Reader, and Shockwave? You can check this by visiting the Firefox Plugin Check Tool.
2. Check your WiFi speed.

Do you have a high-speed internet connection preferably directly connected to the computer via a hard-wired Ethernet connection rather than wirelessly connected?
3. Get familiar with Blackboard.

Use the Firefox browser for Blackboard.

When taking tests, we recommend a desktop or laptop computer and make sure the computer is plugged directly into a power source.

Android and iOS devices are currently supported using the Blackboard App, available free from your App Store.
4. Your phone will work for checking email and attending Zoom meetings, but it should not be your main device for accessing your courses.
5. Work with your instructor and read your syllabus to be sure you have the tools you need to be successful in the course.
6. Check on how you can connect with your advisors, faculty, tutors, and other staff who can help you.
