“Honoring Tradition Through Education: Reflections from the Tohono O’odham Nation”
A multi-media presentation by members of the Tohono O’odham Nation.  The Tohono O’odham are a Native America people of the Sonoran Desert, residing primarily in the U.S. State of Arizona and the Mexican state of Sonora. Approximately 20,000 Tohono O’odham reside on their reservation of nearly 4,500 square miles.
The presentation is being organized for TAMUT by the Native American Advancement Foundation, whose founder Susan Warmack, is a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation and an alumna of Texas A&M-Texarkana.  Selina Jesus, Senior Director of Programs and Tribal Relations, will introduce the program.  She will provide information about the relationship between education and cultural preservation and introduce additional presenters, including the Youth Council, which will perform traditional songs.
