Anil Pournouri, one of our Pre-health Biology students, has been selected for the NIDDK-R25 Summer Research Program. Congratulations Anil!!
The DRUMR Summer Research Program is a 5-year grant from the NIH National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) to provide exposure, training, and mentoring to 10 rural/disadvantaged/under-represented minority (URM) students, 1 from each TAMU System School, each summer (50 students total) to perform NIDDK-related biomedical research and become competitive to enter graduate and/or medical school. The Texas A&M College of Medicine’s annual 10-week summer undergraduate research program in Bryan/College Station will seamlessly incorporate 10 rising juniors from Texas A&M University System schools each summer and will produce a strong network of diverse researchers that will address NIDDK-related areas important in biomedical research. The SRP will be held in person this year from May 24th to July 30th.

Biology is the science that seeks to understand life on every level, from a strong molecular foundation up through genes, cells, tissues, organisms and beyond, to the way organisms interact in an ecosystem. We study the living world - how it changes through the process of evolution, and how living things respond to the changing climate.
The Bachelor of Science in Biology degree offers concentrations in chemistry, environmental sciences, and pre-health sciences programs. A minor in chemistry is also offered, as well as teaching certifications with a focus
A&M-Texarkana Biology graduates can pursue advanced studies in biology, medicine, law, journalism, and business, while others may go on to hold positions in environmental science, instructional positions, industrial or governmental research labs, biochemistry, food science, or pharmaceuticals.
