Political Science
Dr. Daniel Mintun is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University – Texarkana. His primary research and teaching interests include International Conflict, Conflict Management, Human Rights, and Research Methods. He has been a part of the University’s Political Science program since 2021.
Professor Mintun started at A&M-Texarkana in 2021 as an ad interim instructor and hired as an Assistant Professor of Political Science in Spring 2022. Before coming to Texarkana, he served as an adjunct instructor at several institutions, including the University of North Texas (2018-2021), Texas Christian University (2020), and Texas Woman’s University(2019).
Professor Mintun earned his BS at Texas Christian University in 2014 in Political Science while minoring in Psychology. He received his MA and Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in 2019 and 2021 respectively. His primary fields were International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Research Methods. His dissertation was titled Third Party Actor Interests, Conflict Management Approaches, and Intrastate Conflict Outcomes.
Professor Mintun utilizes a learner-centered approach, which motivates students to learn about the world around them through the lens of political science and helps them think about contemporary issues. He genuinely enjoys teaching and interacting with students, and feels that his deep interest in political science and teaching encourages a positive learning environment. Professor Mintun regularly teaches Introduction to International Relations, Introduction to Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Conflict (Civil Wars), Disputes in International Relations, U.S. Government and Politics, and State and Local Governments.
Professor Mintun’s scholarship focuses on various issues surrounding civil wars, international conflict, and human rights, with a specific focus on conflict management efforts (i.e., peacekeeping and mediation). He has presented his research at multiple conferences, including the American Political Science Association (APSA), the International Studies Association (ISA), and the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA).

I am passionate about teaching, and I am fortunate to work at Texas A&M University - Texarkana because the institution values my dedication to my students. In each course I teach, I utilize a learner-centered approach, which I use to motivate students to learn about the world around them through the lens of political science and help them think about contemporary issues. I genuinely enjoy teaching and interacting with students, and I feel that my deep interest in political science and teaching encourages a positive learning environment.
