Honors Colloquium Schedule
Published: February 25, 2013
3/1 Hsiu-Ching Yu 4:00-5:00 UC 210
For those keeping score at home, this is a thirty minute earlier start than normal. Yu‚s work is on display in the John F. Moss library (and you should check it out if you have not already). Working with Teri Stover, Yu will join us for a colloquium and then move upstairs for the usual artist reception that Teri hosts. We hope that you will be able to attend both. Aaron Brand did a very brief write up of her in the „Texarkana Gazette:‰ http://www.texarkanagazette.com/news/2013/02/22/tamu-t-displays-mixed-media-work-975773.php
3/7 Dr. Godpower Okereke 12:15-1:00 UC 210
This will be the first presentation in the colloquium series with one of our own sociologists and we are excited to have Godpower talking about one of his research interests: International Rates of Incarceration. Having been pitched the idea by him in the hallway, I can attest that it will be of interest to all of us. He has also promised to be a little late that day as his class ends and he will have to hustle on over, so don‚t feel that you can‚t come a little on the tardy side yourself.
3/22 Dr. Drew Morton 4:30-5:30 UC 210
Drew will be the first presentation we will have from our Mass Communication family and his talk is „New Media Scholarship: The Visual Essay Explored.‰ Drew is not simply a viewer of these new mediums; he is also a practitioner. He will bring a couple of his works (one that had over 8000 hits in a 24 hour span) and talk about this new form of academic work.
