New Student Email
Eagles,
During this past semester, it was brought to my attention that many of you had issues with your Acemail account. Comments ranged from storage quota to accessibility, and the bottom line was that Information Technology just wasn't providing a solution that you felt met your needs.
July 12, Texas A&M University-Texarkana will begin using Google's Gmail to host and manage your student email accounts. You will still have an official university email address (and you will still be responsible for checking that account regularly), but it will have a significantly larger storage quota, be accessible from anywhere, and integrate with Google apps. Your email address will remain the same, and your login credentials will revert to the default password of your birth date in the format MMDDYYYY with !Ace appended.
You old Acemail account will still be accessible through the end of 2013, so you can transfer any saved information to the new account. I hope that this solution will address the concerns you shared and be a dependable tool.
If you have any problems, please submit a request for technical support at http://www.tamut.edu/techde/support.htm
