Texas A&M University-Texarkana Announcement of its First Fraternity Charter, Phi Lambda Chi.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana made history again today, Friday, September 13, 2013, with the announcement of its first fraternity charter, Phi Lambda Chi. Several students have been working for two years to organize and finally saw all of their efforts come to fruition.  Carl Greig, Director of Student Life, and Dr. Emily Cutrer, President of Texas A&M-Texarkana, both spoke and congratulated the fraternity on all of their hard work and dedication, and Dr. Cutrer further encouraged them by stating that they were truly making history by starting the first fraternity on this campus.  
 
The Lamb Society was organized in 1920 as an organization for high school boys. Each year this society was composed of boys who were interested in conditions which would help to keep up the standard of morals on the campus and the high ideals for which the school stands.  The students involved in Phi Lambda Chi on the Texas A&M-Texarkana campus intend to uphold that same standard, as well as make an obvious and constant presence in the Texarkana community with community service projects. They want to set an example and be a driving force behind the standards set on this campus as it continues to grow.
