A&M-Texarkana sophomore student, Haley Colbert, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, developed a passion with shooting guns while she attended high school at Arkansas High. She excelled very quickly with her trap shooting skills and eventually became the team captain. In 2010 she won the women’s Arkansas Junior Olympic shooting gold medal which bolstered her trap shooting skills to the next level. By winning the gold medal, it provided her with an opportunity to work with the national team coaches at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs. Haley is a fast learner and her determination and practice skills have enabled her to achieve her goals.
In 2013, Haley earned a third straight spot on the National Junior Olympic Shooting Team. Her next goal is to earn a top three finish at the Arkansas Junior Olympics this spring, and to earn additional medals at the national competition during the summer. She hopes to earn a spot with the USA World Cup team and hopefully be able to compete in the Summer Olympic Games. Best of luck to Haley from the Eagle family at A&M-Texarkana!
