Orientation Leader Applications Available Now
The Office of Student Life is seeking energetic and responsible current students to serve on the 2015 Orientation Team. Orientation Leaders (OL’s) are student role models who serve a vital role in the transition of our first-year and transfer students into the A&M-Texarkana community. OLs are dedicated leaders who possess strong communication skills, a desire to be part of team, and Eagle pride. OL’s work with a small group of first-year students during the SOAR program as well as throughout the fall semester. This is a great way to get involved, meet new friends, and make a difference! Each fall semester we start to recruit staff for the following year. Our staff consists of students from all the colleges who are involved in a variety of campus activities and organizations.
Qualifications to be an OL...
- Current full-time student with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA
- You must be in good standing with the University, e.g. not on disciplinary probation
Responsibilities of an OL...
- Lead a small group of first-year students through SOAR
- Facilitate conversations on transition issues
- Role model appropriate academic and social behaviors to incoming students
- Attend spring and summer training sessions prior to orientation. ALL TRAINING IS REQUIRED!
- Maintain your GPA
- Communicate with parents and family members of new students
