A&M-Texarkana Launches New Enrollment Services Model
Texas A&M University-Texarkana has launched a new Enrollment Services model with a goal of enhancing quality service for current, prospective and former students, their family members and the community.
Kathy Williams, associate vice president for enrollment management, said three staff positions were restructured to create enrollment services specialist positions. Ava Simpson, Donna Shipp and KaDeidre Bell have moved from Financial Aid and Admissions to assume the new positions and will report to Donna Glod, who will continue in her role as coordinator of enrollment services.
“Our Enrollment Services team is the face of the department,” Williams said. “They are the first staff members you see when you enter our office, and they are able to provide information on many aspects of admissions, registration, financial aid and records. Our goal is to continue to improve services for students, alumni, family members and friends of the university.”
Two positions have been moved from the Office of the Registrar to create an Enrollment Processing area. Paola Fernandez will assume the role of assistant director of enrollment processing. Cori Larey and Elaine Willis will become enrollment processing specialists.
“Enrollment Processing will assist future and current students in achieving a smooth transition into the university from application to matriculation,” Williams said. “They will work with admissions applications and evaluate transcripts of first-time and transfer students, while our recruiters provide general guidance throughout the enrollment process. Our goal is to make the application, acceptance and registration process as seamless as possible.”
Toney Favors will continue to serve as director of admissions. Admissions staff members include Darryl Kennedy, functional analyst for admissions; recruitment specialists Roderick McKnight, Jennifer Felps, Ellen Wood, Natalie Woodward and Carmen Shurtleff; and Kimberly Bursey-Reece, PEP administrator.
Jana Boatright will continue as registrar. Staff members in the Office of the Registrar include Karen Dukes, assistant registrar; Vanessa Scurlock, course inventory and schedule specialist; and Kristie Avery, graduation specialist.
Financial Aid team members include Becky Hejduk, assistant director of financial aid; Robert Hernandez, manager of veterans’ services; Stacey Epps, coordinator of financial aid services; Nathan Allen, financial aid systems analyst; and Rachel Grant, financial aid loan counselor. Michael Fuller will be the new director of financial aid effective Aug. 3.
Terrica Kirk will continue to provide administrative support for the Enrollment Services team.
In addition to changes in the Enrollment Services structure, staff members are currently working with Information Technology to build an automated call-distribution system to better handle call routing and decrease customer wait times. Once the system is in place and tested, details will be publicized.
