Dr. Doug Julien, assistant professor of English, will speak on "Hip Hop and Marx's Historical Materialism" on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. in University Center 210 at Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

Dr. Julien, who has a degree in Comparative Studies in Discourse and Society, said his talk will trace "both the class struggle arguments of Marx and the economic conditions defined through hip hop to explain why the capitalist crisis or 'communist' revolution never occurred."

This SuperLecture is hosted by the Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE), a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large.
