A&M-Texarkana Staff Sets Recruitment Excursion

Published: October 30, 2015

Texas A&M University-Texarkana President Dr. Emily Cutrer, Enrollment Services staff members and student Eagle Guides will take a two-day trip down the U.S. Highway 59 corridor next week, visiting with students, faculty and staff at high schools and a community college along the route.

On Monday, Nov. 2, the group will visit Timpson High School, San Augustine High School and Nacogdoches High School. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, there will be stops at Jacksonville College, Huntington High School and Lufkin High School.

While at the schools, Dr. Cutrer will speak to the students, and Enrollment Services staff members will discuss admissions, housing, scholarships, student life and A&M-Texarkana campus updates. Student Eagle Guides also will share personal testimonials during the presentations.

Toney Favors, director of admissions, said, “The recruitment team and Eagle Guides are excited about hosting our first ‘Presidential Excursion’ to inform principals, staffs, counselors and most of all students that A&M-Texarkana is a thriving university promoting academic excellence, student success and community involvement. The theme for our excursion is ‘We’re Really Poppin’ at A&M-Texarkana. Come be a part of the Eagle family!’”

“We have completely revamped our enrollment-services model at A&M-Texarkana,” Dr. Cutrer said. “Our focus will continue to be on this region and serving as a destination campus for students who are interested in the academic programs we have to offer.”

“We are aggressively moving forward with new degrees, including a four-year nursing program that students can begin taking courses toward immediately,” she said. “The university and Texarkana has a lot to offer, and this excursion will enable us to showcase the opportunities available to students from outside our immediate area.”
