A&M-Texarkana at NTCC and NTCC Students, Staff Partner on Titus County Cares Project

Texas A&M University-Texarkana at Northeast Texas Community College and Northeast Texas Community College have partnered with students and student leaders on campus to collect plastic bags to be donated to Titus County Cares.

Titus County Cares is a nonprofit organization that assists families, children and elderly individuals in need throughout the community.  TCC delivers all of their food in plastic bags and uses approximately 2,400 bags a week to serve their clients.

Autumn Briggs, A&M-Texarkana at NTCC student worker and Education Club president, covered and decorated 10 boxes that are placed throughout the NTCC campus to collect plastic bags. Bags will be gathered once a month and delivered to TCC.

“A&M-Texarkana at NTCC is thrilled to be a part of this community service project with NTCC,” said Kelly Coke, Instructor of Adult Education and Leadership Studies and A&M-Texarkana at NTCC Program Director. “At the end of the day our goal is for students to not only understand the importance of learning and lifelong learning, and be leaders in their respective academic studies; but also realize the responsibility they have in serving our communities and making our communities better as future college graduates and community leaders.”

Individuals and community partners who would like to donate plastic bags can drop them off at the Office of A&M-Texarkana at NTCC located in the University Health Sciences Center, Northeast Texas Community College, 2886 FM 1735, Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Faculty, staff and students at the A&M-Texarkana location can bring bags to the Office of Communications in University Center 423.
