Dr. Doug Julien, assistant professor of English at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, will present a lecture titled “Get Off My Lawn! Lockean Enough-and-as-Good, Racial Dot Maps, and ‘Let’s Lynch the Landlord’” Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. in University Center 217 on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

Dr. Julien, who has a degree in Comparative Studies in Discourse and Society, said his talk includes an introduction to John Locke’s “proviso concerning property rights also known as ‘enough-and-as-good’ by looking at his Second Treatise on Government, where folks live based on racial dot maps, and music such as the Dead Kennedy's ‘Let's Lynch the Landlord.’ Basically, it is a long question about the viability of the concept in modern terms in relation to economic opportunity.”

This SuperLecture is hosted by the Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE), a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
