A&M-Texarkana to Host Business Leaders for PLACE Local Success Stories Symposium
Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host two business leaders from the Texarkana region for its “Citizens of Success” Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE) Local Success Stories Symposium Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Eagle Hall of the University Center on the A&M-Texarkana campus at 7101 University Avenue, Texarkana, Texas.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a pre-event reception. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m.
“Throughout their academic journey this year, A&M-Texarkana students, faculty and staff have focused on ‘Economic Opportunity’ as a theme,” said Dr. Michael Perri, associate professor of history and chair of PLACE.
“To illustrate cases of people who made the most of economic opportunities in their lives, PLACE selected two local business leaders to share how they have maintained successful, multi-generation businesses in the face of a changing economic climate,” Dr. Perri said.
Speakers will include Sonja Yates Hubbard of E-Z Mart Stores and Steve Mayo of Mayo Furniture. Dr. Gary Stading, dean of the College of Business, will serve as program moderator.
PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. In this spirit, all PLACE events, including the Feb. 16 Local Success Stories Symposium, are free and open to the public.
