Texas A&M University-Texarkana will observe International Education Week Nov. 14-18 with a series of events and activities celebrating the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. All events will take place in the University Center on the A&M-Texarkana campus at 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, is an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.

“As an institute of higher education that emphasizes global citizenry, A&M-Texarkana very much embraces the opportunity to expand the global mindsets of our campus community and beyond,” said Jennifer Felps, director of International Studies at A&M-Texarkana.

On Monday, Nov. 14, the university will have an International Travel Photo Expo all day in Eagle Lounge of the University Center.

“We invite everyone to view photos from all over the world taken by our faculty, staff and student community,” Felps said, adding that there will be an opportunity to vote for contest winners and a booth with information on how to obtain a passport.

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, Dr. Sandra Labby will present information regarding learning opportunities for A&M-Texarkana students in San Miguel, Mexico. The session is set for 1:30 p.m. in University Center 116.

Also on Tuesday, there will be an International Coffee House from 2-4 p.m. in the fourth floor lounge of the University Center. International coffees from around the world will be available.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, there will be a Peace Corps information session at 12 p.m. in University Center 217. Emily Brandt, a former Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia, will share her experiences.

On Thursday, Nov. 17, the International Students Club will present the first A&M-Texarkana World Trivia Competition at 1:30 p.m. in Eagle Lounge of the University Center.

All events and activities are free and open to the public.
