‘Merry Drama on Demand’ is Saturday
The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Drama department will host a holiday-themed “Merry Drama on Demand” 24-hour play festival Saturday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. in Eagle Hall of the University Center on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.
Participants will receive assignments on Friday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. in University Center 116. Rehearsals will take place starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and the festival will begin promptly at 8 p.m. in Eagle Hall. Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.
Writers and participants will select at random a director, a cast list, a prop and a line of dialogue on Friday at 8 p.m. in University Center 116. They will have 12 hours to write 10- or 15-minute scripts that use these elements. At 8 a.m. on Saturday, performance teams will gather and rehearse until the festival begins at 8 p.m. In addition to the plays, one group will develop a screenplay and the edited piece will be screened during the festival.
All performers, directors, and technical assistants must commit to a complete day of rehearsals on Saturday. No prior experience is necessary. Performers of all ages are welcome.
