Workforce Training Grants Available for Ophthalmic Assistant/Optician Training Course
The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Office of Extended Education and Community Development has announced the availability of a limited number of workforce training grants for students interested in enrolling in a 15-week Ophthalmic Assistant/Optician training course. The deadline to apply is Monday, Jan. 23.
Offered in conjunction with Texarkana Eye Associates, the training course will prepare students with the necessary skills to perform ophthalmic procedures in the office of an ophthalmologist or optometrist. Class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. from Jan. 23 to May 10.
Those who successfully complete the course will be eligible to take the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) exam. Confirming an assistant’s knowledge in 19 key areas, this is the entry-level nationally recognized designation for eye-care professionals.
