Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society to Celebrate Darwin Day

Published: January 25, 2017

The Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will celebrate Darwin Day on Monday, Feb. 13, with a presentation by Dr. James Presley and a Phylum Feast at 11 a.m. in University Center 210 on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

Dr. James Presley, who coauthored “Center of the Storm: Memoirs of John T. Scopes,” will give a presentation on John T. Scopes and the 1925 Scopes trial in Tennessee, which focused on a teacher's freedom to teach the theory of evolution described by Charles Darwin.

During the celebration, Tri-Beta will host a concessions table featuring a Phylum Feast on display, with a variety of biologically diverse treats to commemorate Darwin Day.

“We invite everyone to bring friends and have fun commemorating Darwin Day in honor of Charles Darwin and his contributions to the scientific community,” said sophomore biology major Roya Morakabian, president of Tri-Beta.
