Dr. Craig Nakashian to Lead PLACE Discussion on Shelby Steele's Book ‘White Guilt’
Dr. Craig Nakashian, associate professor of history at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, will lead a discussion on "White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era,” a 2006 book by Shelby Steele, on Tuesday, March 21, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. in the Tri-State Iron & Metal Atrium on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.
"Shelby Steele asks some awkward but interesting questions about the trajectory of the civil rights movement after 1968, and I look forward to engaging the university and broader community in his conclusions,” Dr. Nakashian said.
Sponsored by the faculty-led Program for Learning and Community Engagement and the John F. Moss Library Book Club at A&M-Texarkana, the discussion is free and open to the public.
A light lunch will be served.
