56 TEEX Courses Recommended for College Credit by ACE; Many offered in Texarkana Region for Years

The American Council on Education (ACE) recently recommended college credit for 56 Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) courses, including 17 Water & Wastewater courses, which were reviewed and recommended for ACE credit for the first time. ACE credit opens doors for TEEX students, giving them access to academic credit that can be applied toward associate and bachelor’s degree plans, as well as technical training programs.

“Many of the ACE-approved TEEX courses have been offered in the Texarkana region for years and are very popular with public utilities, emergency response organizations, and the business and industrial community,” said Shelley Caraway, executive director of Extended Education and Community Development at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. “I want to encourage individuals who have taken TEEX courses in the past to pursue a review of their TEEX transcripts for potential college-level credit.”

Caraway said the credit may be applied toward degrees at A&M-Texarkana and the nearly 400 other colleges and universities who recognize ACE credit recommendations.

“ACE recognition shows the quality of our training courses and makes our training more attractive to potential students, especially those interested in pursuing higher education or workforce education programs,” said Tony Casper, director of TEEX Curriculum and eLearning. In the coming year, TEEX will submit applications and seek ACE credit recommendations for 50 additional courses.
