TAMUT to Dedicate Soccer Field in Naming Ceremony
Texas A&M University-Texarkana will hold a dedication and naming ceremony for the university soccer field on Saturday, March 30th at 10 a.m. The field is being named after Judy Kelley Morgan, Texas A&M University-Texarkana alumna and Regent Emerita of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. The ceremony will take place at the entrance to the soccer field on the north side of the A&M-Texarkana campus.
A new brick facade and main entry gate has recently been constructed and will be unveiled at the event. The newly designed entrance will include the new name of the soccer facility, as will the scoreboard on the field.
“We are thrilled to be naming this field after Judy Kelley Morgan,” said university president Dr. Emily Cutrer. “She has a passion for students and for providing opportunities that allow them to advance and grow. Without her contributions and support, we would simply not be where we are today.”
President Cutrer also commented that the field is more than a place to just watch and play soccer. “This field is used not only by our athletic teams, but also by our students playing recreational sports and for other university activities. Every year during our “Hatch Camp” for incoming students, the new arrivals meet on this field for team building activities and interaction with their classmates. It is the moment they are brought together as a group and truly become part of the Eagle Family.”
Joining Dr. Cutrer for the ceremony will be Regent Charles W. Schwartz, Chairman, Board of Regents, Chancellor John Sharp of the Texas A&M University System, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of the university. The event will also feature TAMUT soccer teams and the Texarkana United Soccer Association First Kickers.
