Texas A&M University-Texarkana will once again host College Board endorsed Advanced Placement Summer Institutes July 9-12 and July 23-26. Summer Institutes prepare high school teachers with the necessary credentials to teach Advanced Placement (AP) classes.
The July 9-12 sessions include Art History, US History, World History, and Government. The July 23-26 sessions include Calculus AB/BC, Computer Science A, and English Language and Literature. AP training sessions are led by College Board consultants.
The cost of the 4 day training is $575 and includes lunch. Teachers can register for the summer institutes by visiting the CollegeBoard website at https://apcentral.collegeboard.org.
Committed to quality professional development, the Region 8 Educational Service Center in Mt. Pleasant is offering 4 scholarships per district for high school teachers to attend. The scholarships will cover 50% of the cost of the training. Email Shelley Caraway at APSI@tamut.edu for more information or to apply for Region 8 scholarships. The deadline to apply for scholarships is April 30.
