Students and Faculty Travel to Mexico for International Studies

The Community Leadership - Lead 420 course and ESL 593 student traveled to Las Clavenias, Mexico to support classroom instruction for several Clavellinas elementary students. Ms. Ashley Bridges, a local school district teacher and a graduate student in curriculum and instruction has organized and lead the classroom instruction. Community Leadership students also conducted a Community Analysis Project to recognize the community needs in the Clavellinas Community and help grow and improve the impoverished community. TAMUT’s opportunity to study abroad is part of a collaborative program with 9 system universities in the Texas A&M University System. Students also traveled to San Miguel de Allende to tour the city’s rich culture and history dating back to the 1400’s. All students stayed at the beautiful Santa Clara Hacienda owned by Pablo and Barbara Marvin. The faculty leaders for the trip included Dr. Abbie Strunc, Ms. Kelly Coke and Dr. Kim Murray. The Community Leadership students who participated were Dustin Austin, Savannah Calhoun, Cameron Calhoun, Delondria Epps, and Barney Self.
