Dr. David Allard Named Regents Professor by TAMU System
Texas A&M University-Texarkana Professor of Biology Dr. David Allard was recently named a 2018-2019 Regents Professor Award winner by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. Established in 1996, The Regents Professor Awards program recognizes professors at A&M System universities who have made exemplary contributions to their university and to the people of Texas.
Dr. Allard began his career at A&M-Texarkana as an Associate Professor of Biology in 2000, and was named Professor of Biology in 2003. He also held the position of Dean of Graduate Studies and Research from 2004-2009. Prior to joining the faculty at TAMUT Dr. Allard was a Professor of Biology at Texarkana College from 1983-2000 and an Instructor of Biology at Ranger College from 1979-1983. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Ph.D. in Limnology from Texas A&M University.
This is not the first time Dr. Allard has been singled out by the Texas A&M University System for his excellence in the classroom. In 2015 he was named to the Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators, which honors individuals from Texas A&M Universities who have made significant contributions to the field of teacher education.
“Dr. Allard is the whole package,” said TAMUT President Dr. Emily Cutrer. “He is a beloved faculty member, who is an outstanding teacher, accomplished researcher, and a dedicated campus citizen. He sets high standards for student learning and does everything possible to ensure students succeed, not only at TAMUT, but also in their chosen career path. He exemplifies exactly what the Texas A&M Board seeks to honor with the Regents’ Professor designation.”
“These awards recognize and honor the exemplary accomplishments and contributions of our faculty, extension or research professionals,” said Elaine Mendoza, Chairman of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. “Though they vary in focus and location, these individuals exemplify the commitment to excellence in research and service that sets A&M System employees apart.”
