Program for Learning And Community Engagement (PLACE) Holds Religious Roundtable Series
TAMUT’s Program for Learning And Community Engagement (PLACE) will host interfaith religious leaders for discussions on topics related to the 2021-2022 Program for Learning and Community Engagement theme, "Religion, Spirituality, and the Sacred." Invitations were extended to representatives from the Texarkana Muslim Community, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Twin Cities Church of Christ, First Baptist Church of Texarkana, Hardy Memorial Methodist Church, Hindu Temple of Texarkana, St. James Episcopal Church, B’nai Zion Temple of Shreveport, and the Dallas Buddhist Center.
"Religion is a serious topic for our communities,” said Dr. Jaime Cantrell, Assistant Professor of English at TAMUT and PLACE co-chair. “Embracing the globalized diversity of faiths, beliefs, and spiritual practices allows for deeper understandings of how people belong to this world and each other."
The October 14th discussion will be on “Salvation and the Soul” and will take place from 2:30pm - 4:00pm in University Center Room 217 or online via Zoom.
The November 9th roundtable discussion will cover “Mysticism and Magic.” It is scheduled from 2:30pm - 4:00pm in University Center room 217 or online via Zoom.
