Dr. Elisabeth Parrish Eaton

Spring 2020 Graduate - Doctorate in Educational Leadership

Dr. Elisabeth Parrish Eaton earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M-Texarkana in the spring of 2020. She is a veteran educator who has taught in public education for the past 28 years. As a 1986 honor graduate from Murfreesboro High School, Dr. Eaton went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education at Henderson State University and became a third-grade teacher in San Antonio, Texas. She continued her higher education, obtaining four master’s degrees which include the following: Early Childhood Education, Special Education, English, and Art History all from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Dr. Eaton studied art at the graduate level and works professionally as a visual artist. She spent many years teaching K-12 special education, has taught at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and ITT Tech in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Eaton is currently beginning her seventh year as a professional educator with the Texarkana Arkansas School District working at Vera Kilpatrick Bio-Medical Engineering Elementary Magnet School.

Dr. Eaton was one of 17 professional educators accepted into the Inaugural Scholars of Practice Cohort at Texas A&M in the spring of 2016. She completed her dissertation thesis defense in March 2020. Her dissertation focused on creating awareness of educational paraprofessionals’ experiences and needs within a public school setting. Dr. Eaton continues to teach at the K-12 level and will pursue teaching in higher education to create awareness about the teacher/paraprofessional partnership in public education because it can greatly increase student success.
