Amber Adams
Meet TAMUT alumna Amber Adams. Originally from the Galveston area, Amber is a 2020 graduate of Texas A&M University-Texarkana and was recently named the Director of Partnership Development with the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce. “I am very excited to have this opportunity with the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce,” she said. “As big as it is, Texarkana still has a very small-town, familial feel to it. I’m enjoying meeting people and it’s been fascinating to learn how connected people in the community are to one another.”
Amber earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree from A&M-Texarkana and enjoyed the experiences she had while in the BAAS program. “I really enjoyed being in a program where I was with others who were not traditional college-aged students, Adams said.” “Being around other students who were also working and completing their education like me was a unique and positive experience. Not only do you learn from your classes, you learn from the life experiences of your classmates.”
Amber moved to the Texarkana area three years ago with her job at Methodist Retirement Communities and sees Texarkana’s location as a definite perk. “When you live in Galveston it seems like it takes forever to get anywhere,” Adams said. “From Texarkana you can get to so many places quickly…Dallas, Memphis, Shreveport, and places in Arkansas are so much more accessible.” She enjoys visiting places like Jefferson and Marshall, Texas where she can visit antique shops in search of vintage jewelry and other items.
When not busy working or traveling, Amber enjoys singing classic country music and spending time with her 14-year old pug, Dolly Dumplin.
